The Pub

At the Kingfisher our aim is to produce the best quality dishes with the lowest food miles. Our meat travels under 15 miles from farm to plate and our fruit is delivered from just a mile away. It doesn’t stop there… we’ve also found delightful wines from Warden Abbey Vineyard and guest ales from Bedfordshire and surrounding counties.

The Chef

James originates from Kenya and has worked in hotels in Nairobi, Jersey and the UK. He joined us as Sous Chef and has shown his passion and determination which led him to the role of Head Chef. James has creativity in abundance and prides himself on producing the best British dishes in Bedford.

Menu Highlight

We serve the best seasonal afternoon teas in Bedford. Afternoon tea was created by the Duchess of Bedford, who decided that a selection of sweet and savoury snacks were needed to plug the gap between lunch and dinner. So to follow the tradition, we change our offering with the seasons, delivering the freshest, tastiest afternoon teas.
