Meetings

The Kingfisher is a riverside pub with rooms, located on the River Great Ouse. Recently refurbished and opened in August 2022, it is the perfect venue to host your meeting or event. A short drive from Bedford town centre, the main house is a Grade II listed building and within the ground is an open and inspirational 13th Century tithe barn.

Our Spaces

Northill and Southill
Located in the new wing of the house (that’s about 60 years old here!) both the spaces can host up to 40 guests. Bright, light and airy with air conditioning, these rooms are perfect for any meeting or event.

The Riverside Tavern
The Riverside Tavern is situated on the ground floor of the original building with a bay window overlooking the river and can host up to 60 guests. With plenty of natural daylight, stone floors and direct access to the Riverside Terrace, it’s one of the hottest spots in the venue! Available for private hire, mid-week between October and March only.

The Tithe Barn
The largest of our private event spaces – a unique, rustic and atmospheric 800 year old barn. Bespoke, authentic and unique, this space can host up to 90 guests theatre style and 60 cabaret. With its own private bar, you won’t find a more inspirational venue.

Hopefully the worst of the flooding in the area is over🤞

Our car parks are draining and all inside is ship shape and ready to go! With heavy rain forecast again for the remainder of today though we are erring on the side of caution and will open from 10am tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd October); then it’s business as usual.

A HUGE thanks to our fantastic team for all their efforts in keeping the pub safe & dry and the big clean up operation in the grounds. A BIG thank you to you for your patience and understanding.

We look forward to seeing you soon! 🍻
As everyone in Bedford will know, the recent floods have been horrendous and the Kingfisher has not escaped the impact.

We have had to close to business over the weekend which resulted in us disappointing many of our loyal guests. We’re so sorry we had to take this action but are very appreciative of everyone’s understanding.

Luckily, the flood defences we put in place since the devastating flood in 2020 have held up well and we are confident we’ll reopen as soon as the flood threat subsides. The main issue we have is access; our car parks are flooded and getting to and from the building safely is currently impossible.

We hope you’re all keeping safe, we’ll keep you posted over the next few days. Thank you.
